Crowne Plaza Fort Myers Green Hotel

The Crowne Plaza Hotel at Bell Tower successfully passed their inspection to become a “One Palm” Certified Green Lodging destination - the first in Fort Myers and only the third in Lee County. This significant designation is voluntary and requires the hotel to maintain and consistently update their efforts to decrease their impact on the environment through various “green” measures.

The Certified Green Lodging designation is given out by the Green Lodging Florida office of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. The process consists of an extensive application and detailed inspection prior to the certification being awarded. Candidate locations must meet and exceed a range of criteria from indoor air quality to recycling and energy usage. To receive a “Two Palm” designation, previously approved lodging venues must reapply in one year and provide documentation of increased efforts in their “green” practices. The Crowne Plaza Fort Myers Hotel looks forward to reaching the “Two Palm” designation by the end of 2008 and assisting other lodging facilities in the area to lower the industry’s impact on the environment.
